The Baobab Tree is known as Africa's tree of wisdom and life. This tree can survive for thousands of years and provide an ecosystem to a vast array of living things. Like the Baobab tree this oracle is rooted in African wisdom and is named so in honour and respect of the birthplace of humanity known as the "Cradle of Humankind". The inspiration for these cards was birthed from travelling through South Africa. During these travels I experienced an awakening to her ancient and sacred knowledge. The motivation for creating these cards was to share the power and gifts that these images portray and teach. The profound insights that are gained, link us back to our human origins. These cards reflect to us not only the road but also the steps we must take on our sacred journey.

We have always observed and learned from the behaviour of animals and from each other. Not only did animals serve as food, but they also taught valuable survival skills. Through mimicking and adopting the traits and characteristics of the animals, humans learned to live more easily and efficiently. Their influence can be seen in every facet of human history. They have even helped shape our civilizations. Regardless of the quality of treatment they receive from humans, they continue to live in their naturalness. It is through this core quality that animals repeatedly demonstrate to humans that the key to survival is alignment. We can see this quite clearly by looking at how indigenous peoples such as the Bushmen have maintained this level of heightened awareness and alignment with their environment.

By staying present and paying attention to our surroundings, we are more able to identify which qualities we need to develop. If we have any hope of evolving, we must be willing to look within and adopt the skills needed to make the changes that will bring realignment to ourselves and all life. Our relationships with animals, birds, fish, and other humans are to be honoured and respected. This is what awakens us to the power and gifts of the natural instincts that dwell within us.

The images of this oracle reflect to us the traits we must develop and master in order to live in balance and fulfill our life's destiny. They reveal to us what needs more attention and refinement.
